In this Connecticut Opera premiere of Mozart's hilarious but moving opera, a band of pirates abducts the lovely Spanish maiden, Constanza, her English maid, Blonda, and Blonda's lover, Pedrillo. The three are sold to the powerful Turkish Pasha Selim. But Belmonte, Constanza's lover, sets out to rescue them all. Meanwhile, the Pasha has fallen in love with Constanza and his gardener, Osmin, has a crush on Blonda. Despite threats of torture and force, the ladies remain true to their men. In the end, the Pasha frees his captives, moved by their inspiring love and commitment, proving once again that love changes everyone.
