Connecticut Opera is proud to bring opera to communities in the Greater Hartford area.


Family Day
Annually, Connecticut Opera Resident Artists perform Family Day at the Opera, a performance for families that is free for children and uses several activities to introduce kids to opera. Family Day at the Opera has held drawing contests, a costume dress up, an after performance party and a chance to meet singers. This year Connecticut Opera will present two performances of Family Day at the Opera; Little Red Riding Hood and Pinnochio. For Family Day dates and other special events click here.


Magic of...
Each year Connecticut Opera performs a shortened version of an opera for Greater Hartford school children. Schools are invited to bring classes to The Bushnell in Hartford for a morning performance. Each school is given information about the opera ahead of time so that they can incorporate the performance into their curriculum. Last year Connecticut Opera invited students to attend The Magic of Gianni Schicchi, a specially designed overview of the comedic opera, Gianni Schicchi by Giacomo Puccini.
