LA CENERENTOLA Take the familiar story of Cinderella, add some comic relief, a few plot twists, a delightful score and you've got the grown-up version of Rossini's charming opera, La Cenerentola. It's still the tale of the poor scullery maid and her cruel stepsisters, their ne'er-do-well father and the charming Prince. The Prince's search for the most beautiful girl in the realm to take as his Princess sets off a series of disguises and deceptions to be sure the woman he picks loves him for himself, not his title. And the opera, like the fairy tale, ends happily for everyone. See bass Jason Hardy in an interview with Scot Haney. And watch a clip of bass Jason Hardy as Magnifico (You Tube). |
